Testimonials

“Lina and I both wanted to write and thank you for your lessons over the past couple weeks. Our wedding was last Saturday, and everything came together and worked out - and to top it all off, we even got an applause when we finished the first dance. Your help with choosing a song, and timing the dance steps / moves to it really let us end the wedding on a perfect note.”

Brent and Lina - May 2010

“Relaxed and charming David and Diane have that rare gift, known only to masterful teachers, to determine exactly what their students need to know and get it across effortlessly. You will learn to dance, guaranteed, and have fun doing it. Its more of a date with your partner than a lesson!”

Jeff and Vivian - December 2009

“We have been taking dance lessons with Night and Day for about 2 months now!!! We enjoy it so much that it has become the highlight of our week. Not only are we learning a great dance for our up coming wedding, but we are also learning to communicate in a different way. I would recommend David and Diane to anyone looking to dance at their wedding or event or just to have fun!”

Jennifer and Adil - November 2009

“David and Diane were really amazing teachers, we brought them our song, and they showed us what we could do, depending on the the level of difficulty we were looking for. We had four lessons, the first couple of lessons were spent learning the steps and the turns and then we learned how to put it all together, they listened to our likes and dislikes and what we felt we were capable of doing. We went in thinking we weren't dancers and that this was going to be a challenge, but David and Diane made it fun and entertaining. The dance was a huge success, people loved it, they were cheering us on throughout it.

We couldn't and wouldn't have done it without you, thank you.”

“The amount of patience that David and Diane have seems unending. They are a pure joy to learn dance from. They keep it light, fun, informative and engaging. Their easy-going manner instantly erases all the fears of a new dancer and with their unique style of teaching you learn quickly and are left excited about what you will learn in your next lesson. I am really enjoying learning styles of dancing that I can use ANYWHERE with any type of music. I recommend dancing to everyone because I find that dancing becomes the outward expression of how you feel for someone and its so thrilling to be moving inside that feeling. The first time I was dipped I giggled like a school girl... oh, wait... The first time? What am I saying!! I still giggle every time...”

“Well, things didn't turn out quite as planned, but that's no fault to the wonderful instruction we received. Read more about John and Hannah's touching but frustrating wedding dance story...

That being said, you guys were awesome, and we had a great time. We'd always talked about maybe taking dance lessons one day, and we don't often do that many activities or take classes of any kind together, so this was kind of a new thing. But we had a fantastic time, and left every lesson in great spirits and very excited. We were constantly impressed at how you could watch us and figure out problems on the spot. We would highly and happily recommend you two to anyone who's thought of dancing, and certainly anyone who we know is getting married (unfortunately I think we are the last of our friends for a few years). We're also probably moving away quite shortly, but if we wanted to continue we'd give you guys a call for sure.

All the best, and thanks again for everything!

“The wedding went perfectly, thank you! Our dance included. Daina & I danced under the stars, on a platform on the beach, by a line of burning tiki torches. Unfortunately the lighting conditions weren't amenable to any good photos, but I've attached a couple of others for their sentimental value. :) We'd love to take more lessons with you and Diane.”

“Rob and I wanted to thank you both for teaching us how to dance together and to move with the song we had selected for the wedding. We had so much fun taking those classes!

When we actually had to present our dance, we were both so excited to show what we had learned. Everything went wonderful even though we tried to do the manturn too early; nobody even realized!! We have the dance on video and hopefully we can show you sometime.”

Rob and Katrina—September 2007

“We had a great time! Jeff and I enjoyed ourselves and everyone loved the dance. We're so happy we decided to take lessons. Thanks again for accomodating us with our last minute lessons.

We had fun working with you and we really appreciated your patience!”

“I had great feedback from our group about your performance...some of the comments included:

breathtaking
stunning
like being in a Fred and Ginger movie

The dance lessons had positive feedback as well:

fun and engaging
never would have gone out on the dance floor if it weren't for the performers
they allowed me to try out my moves

All in all, I was totally impressed and so were my guests - thank you for being a part of making our event so magical!

I look forward to when we can work together again,”

“Friends and family keep mentioning about the wedding and more often than not, the tango number. Jose and I are so glad that we decided to take the lesson even if it was a last minute decision and how wonderful it was that you guys made that possible.

Everyone was in a bit of a surprise. Especially those who didn't know that we could actually dance...moreso the tango!!!.... I think Jose did really well...we got some oohs from our guests, which was what we really wanted out of them...hahahahaha—If we could pull a tango together then, we're just hoping that we'll be ready to face the music of a married life as well.

Again, many many thanks and more power to both of you!”

“My years of intimidation by the very thought of learning to dance as an adult vanished before the end of my first lesson from David and Diane. So did the equally long–held notion that I was far too uncoordinated to achieve much as a beginner. Their relaxed yet effective mode of instruction soon led me to realize that my main goal of being able to dance confidently and happily at any social occasion would be reached a lot faster and more easily than I had imagined. They knew exactly what music and first teachings would combine to activate forever the latent dance bug in me: before you could say “Buena Vista Social Club”, all I wanted was more of this magical feeling of moving easily with the music. I was also surprised and impressed by the immediate follow–up of emailed notes that help maintain between lessons my own awareness of how my body moves.

Before finding Night & Day Dance, I had seen countless advertisements for dance instruction, but none felt right enough to get me going. I’m glad I ended up waiting so long. This kind of positive, encouraging experience is the best way to start and continue learning anything. For me, the Everest of learning to dance shrank to a mere hillock in one hour.”

“Thank you so much for spending 3 of your valuable Seattle evenings with us. It was really fun for us . . . We so enjoyed watching the two of you with your love of dance (it made us feel a LITTLE bit younger!)

We appreciate your method of instruction—just what we needed to feel more comfortable, giving us some basics, and not stressing us to learn specific dances and complicated footwork. Your follow–up lesson notes are a bonus—we have them printed and spread out on the coffee table downstairs! We just may survive this wedding event yet!”

And after the wedding . . .

“The dancing was sooooo much fun. You two would have enjoyed the evening. Denny and I did quite well, if I do say so myself! Even our daughter said we looked good, and people were wondering when Denny learned to dance like that! Of course most eyes were on the bride and groom, but we felt rather special too.”

“After many years of marriage, I finally convinced my husband Mark to try a class in partner dancing. Luckily, David's class was just the ticket: relaxed, fun, and a great new way to communicate with each other. We enjoyed learning the basics of swing while moving to wonderful music. David is a very empathetic teacher, able to explain dance ideas in a number of ways, so that even people who have trouble identifying right from left, like myself, can figure them out.

We liked his teaching approach so much, we hired him for our 20th anniversary party. His warm–up and mini–lesson helped get our guests out on the dance floor, even if they'd never swing danced before. One of my friends told me afterward that our party was like "a gift for our guests"; I think the dancing made all the difference. We would love to hire David and Diane for our next party.”
