Wedding First Dance Music
Dance is Memorable
Wherever we go, whatever we do, we remember the dancing. And of course, it's the music that propels the dancing forward and gives it character and shape and energy. We like to think of the music as a third partner, since it plays such an important role when we dance.
Wedding Dance Songs
It helps a lot when couples choose music they really like. We can make suggestions, but there's really nothing better than dancing to your favorite song together. When you contact us, let us know what you've chosen, or if you need help! If you do need help, make sure to browse our list of songs and listen to them in the embedded players.
Choose a Style
If you don't know what song you would like to use, you can start by thinking about the style of your dance. Would you like a light, romantic wedding dance with flowing turns and dips? Or do you envision something fun, playful, or even silly? Whatever your preference, the dance style you choose will help narrow down your choice of music. You can come to us with a style already in mind, or we can help you find one that fits your personality and needs.
How Fast or How Slow?
Many students think that the slower songs are the easiest to dance to, but this isn't always the case! Sometimes our students discover that their natural tempo is faster than their chosen song, and it is difficult for them to move that slowly! To them, it's like running a slow motion race - balance is difficult, staying on the beat is challenging, and everything feels awkward. When we increase the speed, they suddenly find that they can dance! So, be careful in your choice of tempo - dancing to a song is always the best way to determine if the tempo is too fast or too slow.

Wedding First Dance Songs
Over the past four years we have saved the list of songs that our students have used for their weddings. Some, like "At Last," are old, popular favorites, and some are unique to the couple who chose them, like "Mirrorball." Every single song helped define each couple's dance - not only did they all dance slightly different styles, but they all danced with unique character repeated by no one else.
Use this list to get some ideas about your own music, compare your choice to what has already been used, or to simply jog your memory. Any purchases you make through our links to Amazon help us by providing us with referral points, which we use to continue to build our own music library!
Grooveshark Player
We're testing a new player that plays each song in its entirety. As our list of great wedding dance songs has over 100 titles, we will be adding to this list periodically. For now, the player contains the latest and most popular songs that our students have used.
Amazon MP3 Player
To use, just press play, then start browsing! In case anything goes wrong with the player, we've included a text list of all of the songs below. With the exception of only one or two tracks, you can sample every song we've ever used with our students!
